very much an active sport in places like New Zealand and France,
one race is often credited with bringing the sport to
mass-market acceptance ... The Eco Challenge However, with Mark Burnett's focus on a host of successful reality television shows (Survivor, The Apprentice etc.) The Eco Challenge has not happened since 2003 Currently, the world's top expedition length Adventure Races are dominated by a handful of races: - The Raid World Championship - Primal Quest - AR World Championship Domestically, there are a host of critically acclaimed expedition/multi-day races ... here are just a few: - Beast of the East - Berryman Adventure - Michigan Coast to Coast - Florida Coast to Coast If you're looking for a true challenge that is a little more manageable than the expedition races, try: - Ozark Challenge - The Endorphin Fix - USARA Nationals These are obviously just a few of the more popular options out there ... new races are popping up all the time and many more are run at a more local level A couple of good places to start researching available races in your area: - checkpointzero ... - The United States Adventure Racing Association (USARA) |
