The Skinny:
The coldest, wettest, most miserable race we have ever had.
At race start (1am), the freezing rain was coming in
horizontally at 15 mph winds ... YEAH! ... and it didn't stop
for the next 18 hours ... there was a solid 2 inches of snow and
ice on our cars when we finally got ready to drive home
Who Raced:
Damon Farrar,
Chip Lynch and
Richard Jensrud
Favorite Part:
Damon had recently acquired a pop-up trailer, which we all
piled into at each transition to thaw our bodies back to
something closer to normal ... without it our motivation to keep
racing would've run out long before it did
Least Favorite Part:
The weather ... the weather ... the weather ... the weather
... the freaking weather
Funniest Moment:
As we were coming off one hill side of the valley, Damon
tried to play a little joke on Chip, by telling him that we were
climbing up the hill on the other side of the valley ... which
was miles and miles of steep climbing, thinking that he was
going to get a reaction out of Chip ... the joke was on Damon
since we indeed was climbing up that exact hill ... talk about
deflating the balloon
